FLORENCE, A HOME BASE FOR TUSCANY AND CINQUE TERRE

Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance, is a feast for the senses. From its stunning architecture and world-class museums to its delicious food and vibrant culture. We often suggest a walking tour to start the visit - so that you can hear form a local about the vibrancy of the city. It typically includes a visit to Accademia Gallery to see Michelangelo's statue David, a stroll through the historical center, passing the Duomo of Brunelleschi, winding through the narrow streets and seeing Gothic Art such as the tabernacle of Orcagna. Wrap up the day with an exceptional dinner at one of the hundreds of local restaurants - we even provide recommendations and will secure reservations on your behalf if available.

A DAY UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN

Spend a day exploring the Tuscan countryside sipping chianti while tasting aged balsamic on a small wedge of parmesan. You can also visit the towns of Siena and San Gimignano. You can explore Piazza del Campo or tour the Cathedral of Sienna during a slow day in Tuscany. In San Gimignano you can walk the streets of "Manhattan of the Middle Ages" enjoying the quiet pace.

EXPLORE INCREDIBLE ART AND LEARN THE ART OF ITALIAN COOKING

Start your day visiting the Uffizi Gallery - working quarters of the Medici Family and now home to countless masterpieces from Leonardo to Botticelli. While visiting this museum can be done on your own, we recommend a small group tour with a master of the arts to learn a unique perspective along with historical references.

After your morning at the Uffizi, meet your chef and instructor for a guided visit to a bustling local market. Taste the flavors of Italy like aged balsamic (we recommend bringing some home!) and then make your way to the kitchen for the afternoon, with some of your fresh ingredients in tow! Enjoy an afternoon of cooking, sipping wine, and chatting with classmates and your instructor before sitting down to enjoy the hearty meal you've prepared.

VISIT THE NEARLY UNTOUCHED COAST OF CINQUE TERRE

Leave Florence for a day trip to the stunning coast of Cinque Terre - inaccessible by road due to the rugged nature of the seaside cliffs. The day includes travel by boat to the Italian Riviera fishing villages. You'll be stunned by their beauty, impressed by their cuisine over lunch, and most welcome thanks to their culture of being very welcoming to visitors. If you enjoy hiking, this is also a great day to weave that into your visit!

DO ALL ROADS LEAD TO ROME? IT'S YOUR TURN TO FIND OUT

After enjoying the food, art, and history that Florence, Tuscany and the Italian Riviera have to offer - it's time to make your way to Rome! We always recommend hotels that match your style and needs right in the heart of Rome, within walking distance of the major sites and a stones throw from at least five wonderful restaurants!

Whenever visiting a new city for the first time, we always recommend a tour that will help you get acquainted with your new home for the next few nights. Rome has a few fun options including a self-guided evening walking tour or even a golf cart tour!

A WALK AMONG ARTISTS AND SAINTS

The Vatican Museum and Saint Peter's Basilica are home to some of the most profound works of art in the world - which is why it is one of the most visited museums in the world each year. That's why we always recommend a tour with a guide to maximize what you see and help you skip the lines (which is really needed!). You will also have time to explore the massive expanse that is the Basilica - be sure to admire the mosaic work and the painting on the ceiling of the dome.

If you're Catholic, there is a tour of significance that we can also recommend, and we can also help you navigate the process of securing tickets to a Papal audience if you wish.

STEP BACK INTO THE ANCIENT HISTORY OF ROME

You can spend a whole day visiting the Colosseum and Roman Forum, two of the most iconic and popular tourist attractions in the world. For good reason! These ancient ruins offer a glimpse into the heart of the Roman Empire, and they're truly awe-inspiring to see in person.

The Colosseum was built in the 1st century AD and was used for gladiatorial contests and other public events. It's one of the largest amphitheaters ever built, and it could accommodate up to 80,000 spectators - equivalent to AT&T Stadium of the Dallas Cowboys!

The Roman Forum was the center of public life in ancient Rome. It was here that the Romans held their assemblies, conducted business, and tried cases at law. The Roman Forum is also home to some of the most famous ruins in Rome, including the Temple of Jupiter, the Temple of Vesta, and the Senate House. They also have a small collection of ancient artifacts for viewing.
