Day Trips from Paris

Paris is a city with rich history and stunning architecture, but sometimes you may want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a day. Luckily, Paris is also surrounded by a number of stunning destinations that are perfect for a quick day trip! Here are some of our favorites!

Normandy is a beautiful region in France, famous for its stunning coastline and historical significance. A popular day trip to the D-Day landing beaches, where visitors can learn about the events of June 6, 1944 and the role Normandy (and the natural landscape) played in World War II. The city of Bayeux is also worth a visit along the way with its famous tapestry and charming old town. Normandy is approximately a two-hour train ride from Paris. Here is one optional tour: Normandy D-Day Landing Beaches. (We also have others we recommend!)

Giverny is a small village located in the heart of France's Normandy region. It is best known as the home of the famous French impressionist painter, Claude Monet. Visitors can tour his beautiful gardens, which were the inspiration for many of his paintings. Touring Giverny is like taking a walk through one of his paintings! It is a great option for those looking for a quick trip outside of Paris - just an hour by train. Here is one tour option: Giverny & Auvers Sur Oise Small Group. (There are also excursions that do a combination of Versailles and Giverny)

Chartres is a small city an hour by train from Paris. It is famous for its stunning cathedral, which is considered one of the finest in examples of Gothic architecture in the world. Visitors can take a trough of the cathedral and explore the charming old town, with its narrow streets and picturesque buildings. Cartres is a great options for those interested in history and architecture. One tour option from Paris is: Charles Private Drive from Paris. (We can also plan an independent day trip via train!)
